Many people believe that network marketing is a scam. There is no doubt that there are scams out there. Successful network marketing is a legitimate way of doing business and there are a lot of great opportunities on the Internet to sell products or services. Or if you have a service you can provide, such as writing web content, resumes or are a web designer, you have a talent that you can sell by network marketing.

The basic thing you should know is network marketing is a little different than direct retail sales. Retail selling is about selling a particular product usually once. In network marketing, it’s about selling products or services that are short-term or products and services consumers need and want on a constant level. An example of this could be herbal products, beauty products and services offered such as tutoring or homework help or typing resumes.

Network marketing is of course about selling, but it doesn’t seem like selling. In order to be successful at network marketing, you will need a team that also believes in the product or services and are committed to the product. They are offered a percentage of the product sold and may be offered a percentage for recruiting others to help you sell your product. This is generally referred to as passive income or residual income. You are not selling the product or service by yourself because you have people who help you build income.

You on the other hand should offer your team or downliners education by pointing to the variety of Web sites that offer either tools or programs that will answer their questions. Recruiting people to help build your business can be found on the net through blogs and message boards. People who might be interested in your product will often read the same blogs or articles and use message boards or forums.
